Description

Mometasone Furoate is a member of the “corticosteroid” medication class, which is used to treat dermatitis and psoriasis-related inflammation, itching, and redness. Dry, itchy, or puffy skin are frequent symptom of the skin disorder dermatitis. Psoriasis is a skin ailment characterized by excessive skin cell multiplication, which leads to dry, itchy areas and white scales.

Mometasone furoate, a strong corticosteroid included in Mometasone Furoate, acts inside skin cells to prevent the body from releasing specific inflammatory chemicals that result in redness, itching, and swelling. These chemicals are generally secreted by the skin in response to allergens.

Mometasone furoate cream, 0.1% is a corticosteroid recommended for patients ≥ 2 years old to relieve the itchy and inflammatory symptoms of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.

How To Use Mometasone Furoate Cream

  • The first two weeks of your treatment should see an improvement in your skin condition. If during this period your symptoms do not improve, give your doctor a call.
  • Using a tiny amount of mometasone cream or ointment, apply a thin layer of treatment to the skin’s affected area.
  • Apply a few drops of the lotion to the afflicted regions and gently massage until the area is completely smooth.
  • This drug should only be used topically. Mometasone topical should not be swallowed or allowed to go into your mouth or eyes. Use only as prescribed by your physician on the face, in the vaginal and rectal regions, and in the armpits and wrinkles of the skin.

Precautions Of Mometasone Furoate Cream

  • If you have an allergy to mometasone, any other drug, or any of the substances in mometasone topical treatments, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
  • Inform your physician and pharmacist about all of the vitamins, nutritional supplements, and prescription and over-the-counter drugs you now take or intend to take. Don’t forget to include the following: additional topical drugs and other corticosteroid drugs.
  • Inform your physician if you have ever had diabetes, Cushing’s syndrome (an abnormal condition brought on by an excess of hormones, specifically corticosteroids), or an infection.
  • Contact your physician if you become pregnant while using mometasone topical.
  • Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it, but if the next dose is almost due, ignore the missed one and carry on with your usual regimen. Never apply twice as much to make up for a dose that was missed.
  • Keep this medication out of children’s reach and in the sealed container it came in. Keep it out of the bathroom and at room temperature, away from sources of heat and moisture. Don’t freeze it.
  • Since many prescription containers—including weekly pill minders and those for eye drops, creams, patches, and inhalers—are not child-resistant and are readily opened by small children, it is crucial to keep all medication out of children’s sight and access.
  • After two weeks of treatment, see your doctor if your skin condition has not improved.
