Isotretinoin is used to prevent severe acne. It is also termed as 13-cis-retinoic acid. It belongs to the retinoids group of drugs. It decreases facial oil (sebum) production which is responsible for severe acne. The severe acne can cause permanent scarring on the skin if not treated well.
